learn moreThe Foundation for Hellenic College Holy Cross has announced the establishment of a scholarship in memory of Mary Harris Pappas, whose devotion to her family, academic achievements, love for the Orthodox Church, and desire to improve the lives of others is remembered and carried forward through the generosity of her parents, Harris and Vicky Pappas of Houston, Texas. Beginning in Fall 2021, the scholarship will be awarded annually to an incoming female Hellenic College student for the duration of her degree program. SAVAS SEMINARIAN ASSISTANCE FUND ESTABLISHED
learn moreOn October 29, 2020, Mr. Irakli Savas delivered to HCHC, through President George M. Cantonis, the sum of $300,000 for the establishment of an irrevocable fund to be known as the Savas Seminarian Assistance Fund. The purpose of the fund is to help seminarians in need with housing expenses and other costs that are not covered by scholarships. Mr. Savas feels strongly that "for those who will become the future leaders of the Orthodox Church, I--and all of us--should want to help make it easier for them financially with non-tuition needs while they are attending Holy Cross." The service was a fitting celebratory symbol of the Center's rebirth after a protracted period of legal difficulties, recently resolved successfully thanks largely to the involvement of His Eminence and HCHC's President, George M. DUMBARTON OAKS PUBLISHES NEW VOLUME BY BISHOP JOACHIM OF AMISSOS
learn moreDumbarton Oaks, Harvard University's Center for Byzantine Studies, has announced the newly published volume by His Grace Bishop Joachim (Cotsonis) of Amissos, Catalogue of Byzantine Seals at Dumbarton Oaks and in the Fogg Museum of Art, Volume 7: Anonymous, with Bilateral Religious Imagery (Dumbarton Oaks: Washington, DC, 2020). A distinguished and globally recognized Byzantinist, His Grace is Director of HCHC's Archbishop Iakovos Library and Learning Resource Center and a 1979 graduate of Holy Cross.
